My computer had a sudden and unexpected relapse of DEATH yesterday. It is currently in for repairs, but the situation looks grim. Possible hard drive failure...
What's more is I have not backed up my files in over a year.
BOY do I feel smart right about now. </sarcasm>
Oh. Right. The point of this post was to inform y'all that while I can get on the interwebs with my sister's computer, it belongs to my sister, who likes to use it herself. It also doesn't run Second Life well.
So I will not be on SL for a while, and while I'll still try to keep up with things here, there will probably be delays in the three tutorials that I had started writing.

I would suggest you get something like getdropbox.com (or some other service similar to it). It's very cheap (free for just a gig or two). It automatically synchronizes files on your computer to the "cloud". I use it for my blend files, textures, word documents, pictures, home movies, etc. I have a purchased account, $9 a month or something but I know if a hurricane hit my house (or I lose the drive) I will still have my hours and hours of work backed up which to me is worth the hundred or two a year I pay to keep it safe.

Heheh. Yeah I've heard of services like that, but I never actually thought I might benefit from it. Like... over a year ago, it might not have been such a big deal.
Though, really if I think about it, it doesn't seem SO tragic. I may loose a lot of files, yes, but most of it is already finished and on SL. The only thing that I was really doing with those old Blender files was using them for tutorials, and I can make new things for those. I can't think of anything non-recoverable on my hard drive that I can't live without.
So.. in summary. I will live. 
Hopefully I'll learn to back things up by some method or another, but I will live.
